Tech Vocab

Compose- write or create (a work of art, especially music or poetry)

Exposure-the state of being exposed to contact with something.

Grid-a framework of spaced bars that are parallel to or cross each other; a grating.

Depth-the distance from the top or surface to the bottom of something.

Filter-device used to selectively modify the component wavelengths of mixed (e.g., white) light before it strikes the film

Landscape-Landscape photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic.

Digital-An image produced using a digital camera and stored as an electronic file.

Flash- Light that flashes when taking the picture

Portrait-type of photography aimed toward capturing the personality of a person or group of people by using effective lighting, backdrops, and poses.

Prime-prime lens is a fixed focal length

Tools

Sawzall- A Reciprocating Saw is a handheld saw commonly used for demolition and remodeling.

Nail- Nails are most commonly used to fasten pieces of wood together, but they are also used with plastic, drywall, masonry, and concrete.

Safety Glasses- To protect your eyes

Bandsaw- A band saw can be used to cut curves, even in thick lumber, such as in creating cabriole legs, to rip lumber and to crosscut short pieces.

Drill Presses- Although drill presses are used mainly for drilling holes, they can also be used for enlarging holes with a boring tool or finishing holes with a reamer.

ScrewDriver- Screwdriver, tool, usually hand-operated, for turning screws with slotted heads

Chalk Line- To keep things organized

Jointer-A wood working machine used to flatten surfaces

Chisel- cutting tool with a sharpened edge at the end of a metal blade, used—often by driving with a mallet or hammer—in dressing, shaping, or working a solid material such as wood, stone, or metal.
